The Trailing of the Sheep Festival @trailingofthesheepfestival in Sun Valley, Idaho was quite a celebration. They have been celebrating sheep 🐑 for almost 30 years!
It was fascinating to hear about the history and culture of sheep ranching in the area and learn about a day in the life. I watched sheep dog championships, a sheep shearing demo and colorful cultural performances by Peruvian, Basque and Scottish folks who each played a big role in sheep ranching in Idaho. There were foodie events for lamb lovers, plus lots of handmade wool items to shop. I took home a cute sheep souvenir of course. So many interesting activities, all leading up to the main event—watching a thousand sheep parade down Main Street!

Seeing Sun Valley in the Fall was just magic, magic! 🍁🍂🍃
Some of my favorite things to do:
→ Grabbing a drink at the legendary Pio, the Pioneer Saloon, for a wild West experience 🍻
→ Treasure hunting 🛍️ at The Gold Mine thrift shop where proceeds support the library. I stumbled upon this burgundy hat a few hours after being here, which I soon became inseparable with! Does this count as pink? 😉 @ketchumgoldmine
→ Stay at the stylish Limelight Hotel downtown with its upscale and modern feel. My room had a juliet balcony, fireplace, breakfast nook and mini SMEG fridge. I also borrowed one of their Audi’s for a few hours to chase the sheep 🐑 further after the Trailing of the Sheep Festival! @visitlimelight
→ Working in a mini hike to see the town of Ketchum from Knob Hill 🥾
→ Exploring the famous and historic Sun Valley Resort, where many celebs have been sighted. This European village has so much charm. It’s surprisingly not located at base of the mountain, so you get a wonderful view of the ski slopes from here. @sunvalley
→ Visiting Sun Valley Ski Resort base area (I’m looking forward to coming back in the winter to ride the mountain) 🏂🎿⛷️
→ Paying tribute to Ernest Hemmingway, visiting his gravesite and memorial statue. The fall is a nice time to visit:
“Best of all he loved the fall, the leaves yellow on the cottonwoods. Leaves floating on the trout streams and above the hills. The high blue windless skies, now he will be a part of them forever.”
→ And of course, simply enjoying my surroundings and the fall colors abound.
